What this document is

TM.7 (ตม.7 คำขออนุญาตเพื่ออยู่ในราชอาณาจักรเป็นการชั่วคราวต่อไป) is a foreigner's application to the Thai Immigration Bureau to extend the permitted period of stay in the Kingdom. The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has two pages.

It is addressed to the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, which oversees the Immigration Bureau.

Who files it and where

  • a foreigner already in Thailand who wants to stay longer than the date in the entry stamp or previous extension;
  • it is filed at the immigration office responsible for the area where you stay, before the current permitted stay ends;
  • according to the form, the applicant must submit it in person, except patients or persons with disabilities who cannot come;
  • according to the form, the fee is not refunded even if the extension is refused. Check the amount with the office.

What the form asks for

  • place and date of writing (Buddhist Era year, พ.ศ.);
  • title (Mr./Mrs./Miss — circled), family name, first name, middle name, age, date and place of birth, nationality;
  • passport number, date and place of issue, expiry date;
  • type of visa, means of transport, where you came from, port and date of the last arrival, arrival card number (if any);
  • how many days you ask for and the reason for the extension;
  • address in Thailand and the details of the person who wrote the application (usually the applicant);
  • signature or right thumb print by hand; a 4×6 cm photo is attached.

Documents usually brought along

  • passport and copies of the photo page, visa and latest entry or extension stamp;
  • one 4×6 cm photograph (the form has a box for it);
  • documents supporting the reason for the extension (for example retirement, family, work or study) — the list depends on the reason;
  • proof of address, such as the TM30 receipt, if the office asks for it.

The exact document list, fee and processing time depend on the reason and the office — check the Immigration Bureau website or the office in advance.

Extending a DTV visa (180 days)

A Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) gives a stay of up to 180 days per entry; according to Thai embassy DTV guidance, each stay can be extended once in Thailand for up to 180 days. The extension is applied for with this TM.7 form at the immigration office. The Bangkok Immigration list (item 39, DTV) has three categories: telework (foreign talent, digital nomads, remote workers), Thai soft-power activities (Muay Thai, cooking, sports, medical treatment, training, seminars, art and music) and dependants (spouse and children under 20).

  • TM.7 with a 4×6 cm photo and copies of the passport data page, DTV and arrival stamp;
  • financial evidence of at least 500,000 THB (bank accounts in Thailand or abroad, or a certificate or guarantee letter);
  • proof of residence and copies of the TM.47 (90-day notification) and TM.30;
  • telework — employment or remote-work documents; activities — a certificate of participation and photos; dependants — a birth, marriage or adoption certificate.

The standard extension-of-stay fee is 1,900 THB; item 39 itself does not state the fee or the period — confirm both at your immigration office. Source: bangkok.immigration.go.th (visa extension, item 39), checked on 2026-10-08.
