What this document is

TM.47 (ตม.47) is the form a foreigner uses to tell the Thai Immigration Bureau that they have stayed in Thailand for 90 days and to confirm their present address. The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has one page.

It is not an extension of stay: the receipt part of the form says so explicitly. The lower part (“for official use only”) is completed by the officer and serves as the receipt with the date of your next notification.

Who files it and where

  • a foreigner who stays in Thailand continuously for more than 90 days (usually on a long-term non-immigrant visa or extension);
  • according to the form, immigration must be notified every 90 days;
  • it is submitted at the immigration office for your area of residence; for other channels (by post, online, through a representative) check with the office or the Immigration Bureau website;
  • the form states that the fine for overdue notification does not exceed 5,000 baht.

What the form asks for

  • place and date of filling (year in the Buddhist Era, พ.ศ.);
  • full name in Latin block letters and nationality;
  • type of visa — TOURIST or NON-IMM box;
  • date of last entry, flight or vehicle, passport number and arrival card number;
  • present address in Thailand: house no., lane/road, sub-district, district, province, phone;
  • the applicant’s signature — by hand.

Documents usually brought along

  • passport;
  • copies of the photo page, the visa or extension stamp and the latest entry stamp;
  • the receipt of the previous 90-day notification, if any;
  • the exact list depends on the office — check in advance.
