What this document is

The “Application for Qualification Endorsement for Work-From-Thailand Professional” is the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) form for the Work-From-Thailand Professional category of the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa programme. With it, the BOI checks whether the applicant meets the category criteria and endorses the qualification; the LTR visa itself is issued afterwards on the basis of that endorsement.

The category is meant for people employed by an established overseas company who want to work remotely from Thailand. The form is published on the official BOI LTR portal.

Main criteria printed on the form

  • personal income of at least USD 80,000 a year in the past 2 years — or at least USD 40,000 a year plus one of: a master’s degree or above, intellectual property, or series A funding of at least USD 1 million;
  • at least 5 years of work experience in the related field in the past 10 years;
  • an employer that is a public company listed on a stock exchange, or a private company in operation for at least 3 years with combined revenue of at least USD 150 million in the last 3 years;
  • medical cover: health insurance of more than USD 50,000 with at least 10 months remaining, social security benefits covering treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 100,000 held for at least 12 months.

The criteria may change — always check the current conditions on the BOI LTR portal before applying.

What the form asks for

  • Part A — personal details, passport, addresses, spouse and children, education, work experience for the past 10 years, contact person in Thailand;
  • Part B — income for the current and past two years and its sources, and the qualification for the USD 40,000 option;
  • Part C — current position, contract term and details of the overseas employer;
  • Part D — the chosen means of medical cover;
  • Part E — current visa and last entry into Thailand (if you are already there);
  • a checklist of attached documents and four confirmations by the applicant.

Documents usually attached

  • copy of the passport (first page and pages with Thai visas), CV;
  • evidence of at least 5 years of related work experience;
  • employment or service contract, evidence of current-year income, personal income tax returns for the past 2 years;
  • health insurance policy, social security evidence or bank evidence of the deposit;
  • if applicable: master’s degree, IP certificate, series A funding evidence, audited company financial statements.

Documents not in English need a certified translation. The form says that processing may take about 30 working days once all documents are complete. Fees and the exact procedure — check with the BOI.
