What this document is

แบบ บต. 52 (“notification of employment of foreign workers under Section 13 paragraph one”) is an official form of the Thai Department of Employment (กรมการจัดหางาน). With it the employer tells the registrar that foreign workers have been hired: who they are, their nationality, the work, the workplace and the start date.

Section 13 of the Royal Ordinance on the Management of Foreign Workers’ Employment requires the employer to notify within the statutory period (under the text of the law, within 15 days of the date the worker started work). Check the current period and procedure with the employment office.

Who files it and where

  • the employer — an individual or a juristic person that has hired foreigners;
  • up to 12 workers per form;
  • it is filed with the registrar (นายทะเบียน) at the provincial or Bangkok employment office responsible for the workplace — check which office applies to you;
  • it can be filed in person or by a representative with a power of attorney.

What the form asks for

  • date of the notification (Buddhist Era year, พ.ศ.);
  • employer’s name or company name, Thai ID or juristic person registration number, type of business;
  • employer’s address and phone;
  • for each worker: name, nationality, work permit number, passport or travel document number, nature of work, workplace, date of employment;
  • employer’s signature and date.

Documents usually attached

List on the back of the form:

  • if the employer files in person — Thai ID card (the officer makes the copy) and, for a juristic person, a copy of the company registration certificate;
  • if a representative files — a power of attorney with duty stamp, a copy of the grantor’s ID card and the representative’s ID card (or other documents the office asks for).

The form does not state fees or processing time — check them with the employment office.
