What this document is

WP.47 (บต.47) is the Department of Employment (DOE) form used to notify the extension of the permitted duration of work of a foreigner under Section 62 of the Royal Ordinance on the Management of Foreign Workers Employment B.E. 2560 and its amendments.

Section 62 concerns foreigners whose work is permitted by another government agency under another law — the form itself asks which agency issued the permission and under which law (for example, the investment promotion law). The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has 2 pages.

Who files it and where

  • a foreigner working in Thailand under a permission covered by Section 62 whose permitted work period has been extended by the competent agency (or the employer on the foreigner’s behalf — check with the office);
  • the form goes to the Department of Employment — in Bangkok the office for foreign workers, in other provinces the provincial employment office; check with DOE which office handles your case;
  • the deadline, fee (if any) and processing time are not stated on the form — check them with the office.

What the form asks for

  • title, name, nationality, age, date of birth, address in Thailand, telephone and e-mail;
  • the document permitting your stay (passport, document in lieu of passport or certificate of residence): number, issuer, country, dates;
  • visa type, number, place and dates, date of arrival and permitted stay;
  • employer: name, registration number, head office address, contacts, type of business;
  • permitted type of work, nature of work, the extended period (from–until), where, by whom and under which law it was granted.

Documents to attach (section 4 of the form)

  • a certificate or document of the government agency showing the permission or approval, the position and the start and end dates of employment;
  • a copy of the passport, or of the document in lieu of passport, or of the certificate of residence;
  • a copy of the proof of permission to enter the Kingdom;
  • for arbitrators only — copies of the case documents under the Arbitration Act (No. 2) B.E. 2562;
  • a copy of the juristic person registration certificate (if any);
  • the work permit.

The office may ask for additional documents — check with it before submitting.
