What this document is

WP.34 (บต.34) is a foreigner’s notification to the Department of Employment (DOE), Ministry of Labour, of commencing work that is necessary, urgent or ad-hoc, under Section 61 of the Royal Ordinance on the Management of Foreign Workers’ Employment B.E. 2560 (2017), as amended. Such work lasts no longer than 15 days; instead of a work permit, the foreigner files this notification with the registrar.

The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has 2 pages: page 1 — the foreigner’s details, passport, date of entry, nature and period of the work, employer and place of work; page 2 — the checklist of attached documents, signature and a section for official use.

Who files it and where

  • a foreigner who entered Thailand lawfully and will perform necessary, urgent or ad-hoc work for no longer than 15 days (for example, emergency repair or set-up of equipment);
  • the notification is filed with the Department of Employment — in Bangkok the Office of Foreign Workers Administration or an area employment office, in other provinces the provincial employment office; check with DOE which office handles your place of work;
  • the fee and processing time are not stated on the form — check them with the office. The information sheet in the same official file mentions a result within 1 working day when the documents are complete; confirm this with the office.

What the form asks for

  • title, name, nationality, age;
  • passport (or document in lieu of passport) number, issuing authority and country, date of entry into Thailand;
  • what work the foreigner will do, the period in days, start and end dates;
  • name of the employer and full address of the place of work, telephone, fax, e-mail, website;
  • ticks for the attached documents, name under the signature and date.

Documents to attach (checklist on page 2)

  • a copy of the passport or of a document in lieu of passport;
  • a copy of the proof of permission to enter Thailand (page with the visa and entry stamp);
  • three 3×4 cm photographs (one is also attached on page 1);
  • if the employer is a natural person — a copy of their identity document, passport or certificate of residence;
  • if the employer is a juristic person — a copy of the business license or registration certificate showing the category of business.

The information sheet in the official file also mentions a power of attorney with a 10-baht duty stamp if the foreigner and the employer do not file in person. The office may ask for additional documents — check before submitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is form WP.34 for?

To notify the Department of Employment of necessary, urgent or ad-hoc work by a foreigner in Thailand under Section 61 — such work lasts no longer than 15 days.

Do I also need a work permit?

Under Section 61, for such short work a WP.34 notification is filed instead of a work permit. If the work lasts longer than 15 days or does not fall under Section 61, a different procedure applies — check with DOE.

Where do I submit WP.34?

To the Department of Employment: in Bangkok, the Office of Foreign Workers Administration or an area employment office; in other provinces, the provincial employment office. Check which office handles your place of work.

Which documents do I attach?

A copy of the passport, a copy of the proof of permission to enter, three 3×4 cm photos and the employer’s documents: for a natural person a copy of the ID document, passport or certificate of residence; for a juristic person a copy of the registration certificate.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

The form does not state a fee. The information sheet in the official file mentions a result within 1 working day when the documents are complete, but check the current fee and timing with the office.

In which language is the form filled in?

The form is bilingual Thai/English. FoxDocs fills it in Latin letters as in the passport; check with your office whether this is accepted.
